Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia - SPRM, Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission, is a re-branding of the old Badan Pencegah Rasuah - BPR. The Misson of SPRM are to:
  • To eradicate corruption, abuse of power and malpractice in Malaysia;
  • To concertedly and continuously strengthen integrity and enhance expertise through human resources development programmes.
The Vision of SPRM are:
  • To create a corrupt-free Malaysian society based on high spiritual and moral values;
  • To make the MACC a par excellence and professional anti-corruption agency.
The Objectives of SPRM is:
  • To incessantly eradicate all forms of corruption, abuse of power and malpractice.

Maritim Malaysia, Malaysian Maritime was formed as a result of a study undertaken by the government in 1999. The study revealed that enforcement was not effective because too many agencies were involved that resulted in overlapping functions, overlapping jurisdiction, and uneconomical use of resources. The Malaysian Maritime began with the creation of a Nucleus team, tasked with making the necessary efforts in the establishment of the agency. The agency was formally established with the enactment of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Act 2004 and was officially launched on 21 March 2006.

The mission of Malaysian Maritime is to enforce laws, saving lives and properties at sea in order to ensure the safety and security of Malaysian Maritime Zone (MMZ). Among the functions include:
  • To enforce law and order under any federal law;
  • To perform maritime search and rescue;
  • To prevent and suppress the commission of an offence;
  • To lend assistance in any criminal matters on a request by a foreign State as provided under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act;
  • To carry out air and coastal surveillance;
  • To establish and manage maritime institutions for training;
  • To ensure maritime security and safety;
  • Perform any obligation to ensure maritime safety and security or do all matters incidental to its
  • Control and prevention of maritime pollution in the seas.
  • Prevent and suppress piracy and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs on the high seas.
  • Placed under the control of the Malaysian Armed Forces during a period of emergency special crisis or war.

Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia, Malaysian Civil Defence Department was formed for the functions for:
  • Establish, manage and maintain Civil Defence Force.
  • Developing and implementing training programs for Disaster Management and Emergency to the public.
  • Implement disaster and emergency assistance services.
  • Prepare, manage and maintain the Transfer Centers and Disaster Warning System and Security.
  • Plan and perform rescue activities and property before, during and after disasters.

Ikatan Relawan Malaysia - RELA telah bermula sejak zaman perang dunia ke-2 melalui penubuhan 'Home Guard' atau Pengawal Kampung. Penubuhannya bertujuan untuk menjaga keselamatan setempat apabila darurat diisytiharkan pada tahun 1948 iaitu dizaman komunis di Tanah Melayu. Ahli-ahlinya terdiri daripada sukarelawan masyarakat setempat. Pasukan Pengawal Kampung dibubarkan setelah darurat diisytiharkan tamat pada 31 Julai 1960.

Bagaimanapon pada 11 Januari 1972, kerajaan telah mengambil keputusan untuk menubuhkan RELA di bawah Seksyen 2 Akta (Kuasa-kuasa Perlu) Darurat 1964. Penubuhan semula pasukan RELA yang baru ini akibat dari pergaduhan antara kaum yang telah berlaku pada 13 Mei 1969. Hingga hari ini RELA yang dianggotai oleh berbagai kaum dan berada di bawah Kementerian Dalam Negeri - KDN, telah mengalami berbagai tugas dan fungsi dalam membantu memelihara keharmonian negara.

Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia - UPNM or the National Defence University of Malaysia - NUDM, is a military university located in Sungai Besi Camp, Kuala Lumpur. The university was formerly known as Akedemi Tentera Malaysia - ATMA or the Malaysian Armed Forces Academy which was established on 1st. June 1995. The university is Malaysia's first catering to the needs and development of the Angkatan Tentera Malaysia - ATM, (Malaysian Armed Forces). There are around 2,700 undergraduate students, with over 1,300 of them Officer Cadets that undergoe four to six years of training.

The institution was also responsible in upgrading the knowledge and academic status of the armed forces by offering bachelor degree courses in fields of engineering, sciences and managements while not neglecting the basic requirements of military training. The bachelor degree courses were accredited and awarded by University Teknologi Malaysia - UTM in the beginning. Lecturers, some from within the armed forces and some are hired by the academy and the rest deputised by UTM where all were fully committed to changing the face of the Malaysian Armed Forces.


In 2006, ATMA’s responsibility was recognised and further given a boost when it was upgraded to university status creating the current UPNM. The establishment of the university was announced by our former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi during the Budget 2007 reading at the Malaysian Parliament with costing about RM500 million and was fully borne by the Government of Malaysia.
Among the educational focused in the university are for Diploma to Bachelor Degree thru 4 main faculties provided which are;
  • Faculty of Defence Studies & Management
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Defence Science and Technology
  • Faculty of Medicine and Defence Health

The first intake of students for 2007/2008 session which amid new changes having admission the first intake of civilian undergrads. Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) prepares the Malaysian military and civilian leaders to better address national and international security challenges through multi-disciplinary educational programmes, research, professional exchanges and outreach. Though the university was not too long ago established, it has already chalked up over 11 years of experience in education and training since 1995 with over 1000 graduates in the fields of engineering, computer science and management. These graduates have all been successfully inducted and now suit as full officers in the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysian Air Force, also in other Government Sectors and Non Government Sectors.
