Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia - IKIM

Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia - IKIM, was established on February 18, 1992 with inaugurated on 3rd July 1992 by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia. Its establishment aims to provide proper understanding of Islam through various programs and activities such as research, seminars, workshops, forums, consulting, training and publishing.

The objectives of IKIM are:

• To spreading Islam in the proper understanding and effective through appropriate method.
• Always work towards the achievement of a comprehensive Islamic message in perfect way to reach all segments of society.
• Enhance the understanding of Islam effective effort through appropriate use of resources.
• Always strive to achieve customer satisfaction.
• Being the research and resource center for understanding of Islam.

In an effort to spread the understanding of Islam globally, IKIM provide open and free atmosphere so that everyone can produce their own opinion to discuss issues related. In summary functions IKIM is as follows:

• Conducting research involving comprehensive and integrated study of the role of Islam and Muslims to face the current challenges that arise as a result of the changing world situation.
• Produce publications, including books, magazines and journals for general reading and target groups.
• Organizing conferences, seminars and forums, discussion in diversifying ideas for finding solutions to certain matters.
• Collaborate with local and foreign organizations in carrying out programs for mutual benefit.

Besides active in research in academic for the community, IKIM actively spreading fresh and current information mostly in Islamic related for community topics via books publishings authored by research and academic text, media electronic where currently their Radio IKIM being one of the top 5 popular radio in Malaysia, organising forums, talks, etc.
