Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara - IKBN, (National Youth Skills Institute), is one of the National Youth Training Institute under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Institute is born of inspiration Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir as a step to improve skills work among youths to meet the shortage of skilled labor for the manufacturing industry in Malaysia. Projects worth RM31.78 million labored through counter trade between the Government of Malaysia (Ministry of Youth and Sports) and India (HMT (I).
There are 19 branches of Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara - IKBN nationwide, and 1 Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara - IKTBN (Higher National Youth of Skills Institute) which was built in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, in Sepang, Selangor. So they made the total of 20 numbers of IKBN & IKTBN campuses.
The Objectives
- Provides intensive training in the field of metal-works, machining, tool & mold maintenance and electronic following the Malaysian Standards of Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia - SKM (Malaysian Certificate Skills) level 3.
- Provide students with opportunities to increase the flow of entitlement to vocational skills by offering courses at higher level (level 4/5 or Degree SKM).
- Producing skilled manpower in the areas concerned towards fulfilling part of the industrial needs.
- Provides short-term specialised training in various fields related to technicians, sponsored by the private sector or the public as well as providing 'customised' courses.
- Provide services in the form of advice and work orders to those who are interested in the ability.
